EUKI Networking Conference - European Climate Initiative in Berlin
On May 14-15, 2024, the 5th EUKI Networking Conference took place in Berlin. During EUKICON24, representatives from 23 countries and over 100 organizations gathered, working on more than 50 projects that support the implementation of EU climate goals and shape the future of energy and climate transformation.
The event was an excellent opportunity for exchanging experiences through discussions and workshops focused on supporting the green transition. It provided a platform to showcase projects like Visions2045, DUET, and Ready4NetZero.
2nd meeting of SUPPORT DHC project partners in Frankfurt
On 15 and 16 May 2024, the partners of the project SUPPORT DHC: Supporting a fast implementation of low-grade renewable energy and waste heat for district heating and cooling took, met for the second time to discuss the implementation of ongoing project activities. This time, the meeting was hosted by the German organization AGFW, based in Frankfurt, which is one of the project's frontrunner cities. It was a great opportunity to meet again and discuss the next steps related to, among other things, the involvement of followers cities and the start of a capacity-building program and the organization of thematic workshops. The current situation at each of the frontrunners in the partner countries was also discussed, which is eleven, and opportunities for cooperation with future project stakeholders at the European, national, regional and local levels were identified.
Activities of the municipality of Raciechowice for climate protection
For years, the Raciechowice municipality has set an example of its commitment to environmental protection and the fight against climate change. It has enjoyed the status of an ecological municipality since 1997, as evidenced by its long-standing and consistent efforts to promote sustainable development. Implementing initiatives to increase energy efficiency, as well as to reduce energy consumption and related emissions, the municipality continuously implements the provisions of the adopted strategic documents. In addition, since 1999. Raciechowice municipality is an active member of the Association of Municipalities Polish Network "Energie Cités" (PNEC), with which it participates in numerous international projects. Currently, the municipality participates in two projects: OwnYourSECAP and CommitClimate, both of which are financed by European funds.
International workshop within OwnYourSECAP project in Prague
The fourth OwnYourSECAP project partner meeting and the second international peer to peer workshop took place on April 17 and 18, 2024 in Prague, Czech Republic. The first day began with a joint welcome to all participants - both project partners from 11 European organizations, as well as representatives of municipalities from different countries. From Poland, representatives of Bydgoszcz and Sztum (frontrunner municipalities) and Besek and Raciechowice (experienced municipalities) participated in the meeting.
Climate resilience of buildings – meeting of the Ambassadors of the European Climate Pact
On April 11, 2024, a unique Learn&Share meeting dedicated to the Ambassadors of the European Climate Pact was held on the issue of building resilience to climate change. This is an important topic, given the growing threat of extreme weather and climate change. The meeting brought together specialists and experts who shared their knowledge and experience in the field of sustainable construction and the much-needed renovation of buildings.
3RD TRANSNATIONAL PROJECT MEETING
The third international project meeting of the El-Practice project was held on March 22, 2024 in Krakow, Poland. PNEC, as a partner organization and project coordinator, was responsible for the preparation of the meeting and hosted all partner organizations at its office on Slawkowska Street in Krakow. The international meeting was attended by representatives of all organizations i.e.: MIITR (Slovenia), LEVILO (Austria), REGEA (Croatia), InnovationHive (Greece), KSEENA (Slovenia) and of course PNEC.
Developing energy skills among young adults - international conference in Krakow
On March 21, 2024, an international conference on the role of young adult education in the face of the energy transition took place at the Polish Academy of Arts and Sciences in Krakow. The event was organized within the framework of the international project El-Practice: Energy Literacy - practical training on sustainable energy consumption via personal behavior change. Its goal is to support young adults (29-39 years old) in expanding their knowledge and improving their skills and capabilities of sustainable energy use, as well as increasing their self-confidence, leading them to actively engage in the creation of a sustainable society and educating them to take responsibility for their life choices. The event was at the same time part of the implementation of the Climate Pact initiative in Poland.
Urban energy planning and the challenge of energy poverty - Highlights from Ready4NetZero Webinar #6
The 6th and last online event of the Ready4NetZero capacity development programme was organized on March 12, 2024, a webinar about urban energy planning and the challenge of energy poverty. More than 45 participants engaged in the topic of this event. This webinar showcased the remarkable efforts of Bydgoszcz municipality in Poland, made towards achieving energy self-sufficiency.
Study visit to Dresden in the framework of the DUET project
In the middle of March 2024, a delegation of representatives of Polish local governments visited Dresden as part of the DUET project. The main purpose of the study visit was to learn about Dresden's approach to the topic of energy management, renewable energy sources, energy-efficient infrastructure, and to gain inspiration on sustainable practices in the city.
The event started on the 13th of March at Dresden University of Technology (TU Dresden). Anna Jaskuła from PNEC and Hanna Lewandowska from the City of Bydgoszcz officially opened the meeting. The purpose of DUET project was presented by Justyna Janosz-Klus from PNEC. Romuald Meyer from PGK SA introduced the topic of hydrogen in the production of energy and the transportation sector. The official opening session was an opportunity for introduction and networking between all the participants of the event.
CaPABle course on renovation of public buildings
A new training course developed as part of the CaPABle project (full name: Building Capacity of Public Authorities towards meeting Public Building stock Renovation challenges, funded by the Erasmus+ program), for municipal officials, technicians, administrators and actors interested in the topic of building decarbonization, is now freely available online.
The training materials have been developed to raise the competence and develop the skills of public and private entities to improve the energy performance of public buildings.
