OwnYourSECAP project officially started! On January 17, 2023, the first meeting was held with Polish municipalities involved in the international project: OwnYourSECAP: Bringing local and regional municipalities towards owning their SECAPs.

During the meeting, the main objectives of the project were presented, and the project's methodology and new design approach were discussed, allowing all participating municipalities to exchange experiences, learn from each other and provide support to each other.

Participants were also introduced to the details of the "design thinking" method, which will be applied to the development of SECAP plans. A short training on this method will also be held soon to help understand the mechanism and how it can be implemented in practice.

The next parts of the meeting included familiarizing municipalities with an internal audit of existing SECAP and interviews with municipal representatives. These first project activities are mainly aimed at experienced municipalities that already have a SECAP and will implement the activities in it in the near future (3 per year) and update it.  The project also includes less experienced municipalities, for which the SECAP plan will be developed. They will also implement an Energy Management System in accordance with the ISO 50001 standard and will also implement energy efficiency and/or renewable energy and/or climate change adaptation measures. The last group of participating municipalities are the replication municipalities from the partner countries and beyond, who will learn from the experience of the other partners and will also develop and implement a SECAP or EnMS in the municipality.
