On 16-17 October 2024, the kick-off meeting of the CETAC (Clean Energy Transition Assistance Centers) project took place in Prague. The aim of the project is to support local authorities in the decarbonisation process by establishing Clean Energy Advisory Centres. The Centres will be closely connected to the structures of municipal offices and will focus on implementing green policies, supporting citizens and businesses in actions related to the energy transition.
The event was attended by representatives from all partner organisations, including municipalities and cities involved in the process of establishing Clean Energy Advisory Centres. The meeting was opened by the project coordinator, Vaclav Šebek, from the SEVEn Centre for Energy Efficiency in the Czech Republic, along with Elisa Martellucci, a representative from the European Climate, Environment and Infrastructure Executive Agency (CINEA). Following this, participants presented their roles and contributions to the project, which significantly helped clarify the planned activities.
A key part of the event was the workshops that allowed participants to view the created Centers from different perspectives, verifying available solutions and the capabilities of the cities. Partners shared best practices and the challenges they face in their regions. Together, they successfully identified both opportunities and challenges associated with establishing the centers and proposed innovative solutions to support the local implementation of the initiative in the partner countries: Czech Republic, Lithuania, Latvia, Poland, and Romania.
The meeting in Prague represented a significant step in the implementation of the CETAC project, providing all participants with theoretical knowledge, as well as practical tools and inspiration to act towards energy transition within the initiative. It offered an opportunity to exchange information and gain a better understanding of the individual components of the project, while also comprehending their mutual synergies, which will facilitate the creation of coherent and effective solutions in subsequent stages. Through collaborative workshops, project partners gained a new perspective on the challenges facing their regions and discovered the potential for international cooperation.
