On October 8-9 in Milan, Politecnico di Milano held the second meeting to summarize the progress of the Support DHC project. Project partners summarized the achievements of the first year of operation, including activities that support both transformation leaders and those district heating systems, which are in the early stages of development. They also discussed plans for initiatives that build competencies and enable knowledge sharing among stakeholders and DHC system operators, which play a key role in accelerating the decarbonization of heating and cooling systems.
The consortium, consisting of experts in DHC system transformation, is working intensively on DHC transformation and investment plans to enable the rapid deployment of low-grade renewable sources and waste heat in Austria, Germany, Poland, Lithuania, Italy and Ukraine.
The partners of the two initiatives: Support DHC and its newly launched sister project Enable DHC, held in cooperation an interactive workshop with representatives of Italian DHC operators. During this event, the three front runners of the Support DHC project — Lodi & Cremona, Reggio Emilia and Mainova in Frankfurt — presented their local decarbonization programs and the challenges they face in implementing the process. The two days of meeting culminated in a panel discussion providing them with valuable feedback from consortium experts, and engaging all participants in productive discussion on the implementation of green and sustainable solutions in the transformation of DHC systems and next joint activities.
