The 2^nd meeting of Polish Covenant of Mayors Dialogue Platform was held on 4^th October 2012 in Krakow and gathered 15 participants from 10 municipalities: Bielsko-Biala, Czestochowa, Dabrowa Gornicza, Dzierzoniow, Lubin, Niepolomice, Palecznica, Raciechowice, Slupsk and Warsaw.

The meeting was an opportunity to share inspiring ideas and experience - experienced signatories gave practical advice to „new” or potential ones. Moreover the draft version of the Polish Covenant Action Plan was discussed and the persons who will represent the Polish Platform on the national and international level were unanimously selected: Zbigniew Michniowski, Deputy Mayor of Bielsko-Biala, President of the Board of Association of Municipalities Polish Network “Energie Cités” and Leszek Drogosz, Director of the  Infrastructure Office in the city of Warsaw.

Z.Michniowski underlined the important role of the cities which can help the state government in the implementation of the EU Climate and Energy Package.

Maria Stankiewicz, Director of the Association of Municipalities Polish Network "Energie Cités" (PNEC) presented the commitments of the Covenant of Mayors signatories, the SEAP implementation in Bielawa, Elk, Niepolomice, Raciechowice and encouraged the 4 non-signatories (Czestochowa, Lubin, Palecznica, Slupsk) to join as soon as it is possible. She also presented “Action Plan for implementation of the Covenant of Mayors in Poland during 2012 – 2020” – initiating the discussion on its basic points - as well as 8 project currently implemented by PNEC and supporting the CoM initiative in Poland.   

P.Koperski, the representative of Czestochowa was curious to know how much does the SEAP development cost, how much time does it take to prepare it and what baseline year is most commonly chosen. The representatives of CoM signatories willingly and precisely answered those questions informing also who had prepared SEAP in their cities and where the financing sources for this task could be found.

P.Sołtysek from Bielsko-Biala shared his experience from Energy Days organization and stressed the importance of communication activities focused on the local communities.

The meeting was finished with the re-invitation to CoM – as the more cities will join their efforts the stronger will be their arguments in the implementation of Poland’s energy strategy.

Polish CoM Dialogue Platform meeting followed two-days workshop "Low carbon trend setters" organized to exchange the participants’ views and lessons learned from the implementation of the Covenant of Mayors. The workshop was co-organized with the IEE ENERGY FOR MAYORS project.
