Best „players” of the Polish RES League – 18 municipalities – received awards on the 6th of October 2009 during 1st RES Forum entitled "Renewable energy sources and energy conservation in municipalities – theory and practice" which took place in Cracow.
Winners of the RES Champions League 2010
The gala award ceremony of the European RES Champions League took place on Wednesday, 19th of May 2010, in Dunkerque. It was a part of the 6th European conference of sustainable cities and towns.
The gold medal in the general ranking went to Prato-allo-Stelvio (Italy). German cities of Neckarsulm and Ulm took gold medals respectively in the categories "20,000 to 100,000 inhabitants" and "more than 100,000 inhabitants". And last but not least, the town of Nowa Deba – representative of the Polish RES League and member of PNEC - received gold medal in the division "5,000 to 20,000 inhabitants.

Our Association as a „Partner for Climate” of the Ministry of the Environment
We are pleased to announce that the Association of Municipalities Polish Network "Energie Cités” for the second time received the prestigious title of "Partner for Climate”, which is granted by the Ministry of the Environment. The title is an expression of appreciation for the Association’s long-term work for the promotion of activities and initiatives for climate protection among Polish local governments.
Bielsko-Biała already has a Sustainable Energy Action Plan!
On 26th of January 2010 Bielsko-Biała, as the first city in Poland, adopted a Sustainable Energy Action Plan (SEAP). The city committed itself to its elaboration and implementation when joining the Covenant of Mayors, a European initiative for climate protection. Implementation of the SEAP will allow Bielsko-Biała to reduce the CO2 emissions by at least 20% by 2020.
15th Anniversary of Association of Municipalities Polish Network „Energie Cités” (PNEC)
This year our Association celebrates its 15th anniversary. That is why we asked the most active members of our network to present their achievements and history of their cooperation with PNEC during the conference „COVENANT OF MAYORS - European Initiative for Climate Protection” which took place in the building of Cracow City Council on 28th and 29th of May 2009.
The Association of Municipalities Polish Network Energie Cités has become the first Polish Supporting Structure of the Covenant of Mayors
Zbigniew Michniowski, President of the board of PNEC Association, has signed the Agreement on Partnership between the European Commission’s General Directorate for Energy and Transports and the Association of Municipalities Polish Network Energie Cités. The event took place on 24th of April 2009 during the international conference "3x20: Play the game" which was organized by the European Network Energie Cités and Climate Alliance and which gathered over 400 participants from different European countries.

Bielsko-Biała and Niepołomice were among 350 cities across Europe that have committed, by signing the Covenant of Mayors, to go beyond the EU's energy objective of reducing 20% CO2 emissions by 2020.
The MODEL Awards Competition 2009
On 9th February 2009, in Charlemagne Building in Brussels, during the European Sustainable Energy Week, the first edition of MODEL Awards Competition has been organised.
The MODEL Award recognizes the European municipalities from the New Member States and Croatia for their exceptional achievement in the field of local energy management and communication with local actors. 42 MODEL pilot cities from all New Member States municipalities were invited to participate.
