Second partners meeting within the CommitClimate project
On March 7-8, 2024, the second partners' meeting of the CommitClimate project was held in Tallinn. The overall goal of the project is, among other things, to improve the competence of local government representatives in the area of energy transition and to develop a new computer simulation model for calculating carbon footprints and modeling scenarios for reducing greenhouse gas emissions in the future.
Empowering Climate Action: Insights from the Innovative Design Thinking Workshop
Workshops on "effective communication and social participation in climate actions using the Design Thinking method" were held remotely in response to the need to implement innovative climate actions. During the workshops, the Design Thinking method was used to provide participants with the necessary skills and tools to conduct local climate initiatives. The event was carried out in cooperation with the Social Innovation Workshop Foundation.

Engaging Citizens for Climate Neutrality - highlitghts from Ready4NetZero webinar #3
On January 9th, 2024, the third Ready4NetZero webinar hosted a discussion with climate action community engagement experts, which was attended by nearly 70 participants. During the webseminar moderated by Linda Mederake from Ecologic Institute gGmbH, the importance of the Ready4NetZero project was highlighted. The project aims to develop a Guide to Developing Local Climate Neutral Strategies, which includes case studies, key elements, measures, and strategies related to climate neutrality. The webseminar featured three guests from the German municipalities of Osnabrück, Ahrweiler, and Kempten, who shared their success stories of engaging citizens in the journey toward a low-emission future.

Ready4NetZero consortium are inviting all interested in citizen participation topic to the webinar #3 “Navigating Challenges in Citizen Participation for Climate Neutrality". On the way to climate neutrality, the role of citizen involvement and participatory planning is crucial for a variety of reasons such as ensuring transparency in decision-making, governance openness and ownership over the decisions given to the public. Engaging the community in climate action helps building trust, inclusivity and accountability in the pursuit of net zero solutions. Yet, many municipalities struggle with realizing citizen involvement and participatory planning, as well as with meeting expectations for integrating public feedback into strategies and measures.
Results of EnergyMeasures and energy poverty workshop in Bielsko-Biala
On Monday, December 11, 2023, a workshop addressing energy poverty in support of the European Climate Pact was held at the Ecological Education Centre "Ekosynteza" in Bielsko-Biała. The event was a platform to unite various stakeholders, including city officials from the Departments of Environment and Energy, Social Policy, and Housing, representatives from the Social Welfare Centre in Bielsko-Biała, City Wardens, and community members actively engaged in addressing the needs of city residents on a daily basis.
